John Coltrane - Ballads

(Impulse Records A-32/ AS-32 USA Stereo LP 1963)

This is a late 1960's USA Stereo LP pressing. It has a heavyweight front laminated "Stereo" gatefold sleeve. The sleeve has the "Product of ABC/ Paramount..." text on the rear. It comes with its original generic company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has "black & red ring" late 1960's "Impulse" labels. The labels are grooved also. The labels have the "A Product of ABC Records..." text on them. The matrix numbers are as follows:

Side 1: AS 32 A ("VAN GELDER" and "STEREO" are machine stamped in the dead wax.)
Side 2: AS 32 B ("VAN GELDER" and "STEREO" are machine stamped in the dead wax.)

This is a genuine late 1960's USA Stereo pressing of this excellent early 1960's Cool Jazz/Modal Jazz LP. This is the next best thing to pricey USA 1st pressings. It still has the "VAN GELDER" stamp in the dead wax on both sides.

I have some other rare & collectable 1960's, early 1970's Jazz LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings.

Gatefold Sleeve: There is some more moderate rubbing wear to three corner tips. This includes both the corner tips at the spine. There is mild rubbing wear to the other corner tip. There is some light, very mild or very minor fading on the inner gatefold. There is some mild fading to the spine. Otherwise, the spine is fine. There is an extremely small 0.5 cm hairline scratch on one spine edge. There is some light, very mild or very minor rubbing wear on the rear sleeve opening edge on some areas. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on some areas. Overall, Very Good+ condition

Vinyl: There are two very mild hairline surface marks on Side 2. These measure 4 cm and 3 cm in length. There is a 4 cm hairline surface mark at the start of Side 1. This goes around the groove slightly. There are a couple of finger tip sized areas of mild, or very mild, surface rub marks. Otherwise, light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. There are a very few areas of more moderate surface sleeve rubs too. Overall, Very Good condition. The labels are in Excellent condition & show light or very mild spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits. There is a very small tear in one corner tip area.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Near Excellent to Excellent overall, & Excellent+ in many places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in a few quieter places. There are no clicks or pops. Overall, an Excellent audio copy!
