Test pressing Kurt Leimer 4th piano concerto Vienna STEREO (UA / DECCA SXL 2100) I offer for sale a very rare and intriguing Test pressing. This is a pressing of the recording of Kurt Leimer 4th piano concerto with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the original issue of this recording is the stereo DECCA SXL 2100 lp. This recording was never issued in any other format. However, it seems that this is a USA test pressing of this recording. (numbers on the label: United artists UGS 1376 (also the matrix code). The labels have a very early date stamp: november 4 1959. I do not know if it was made for private use or if it was discarded for market introduction. It looks like it is a United artists test pressing. This company issued a number of decca recordings in the USA. A knowledgeable collector will immediately recognise the full decca stereo sound on this lp. The record comes in a plain sleeve, the record itself is in Excellent condition and has a full sound, but plays with some surface noise and a few random ticks at the start of both sides (probably dirt). A collector notified me that this could also be a recording by the Leimer concerto made by Stokowski. This was only issued on German Electrola. The dead wax of this test pressing also has: RVG Stereo. That could stand for Rudy Van Gelder, who mastered a number of Stokowski recordings.
